Edward Fujawa will speak at the Flora Depot Railroad and Local History Museum on June 10 at 6:30 p.m. The conversation with the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award honoree is part of the Indiana Authors Awards Speaker Program, powered by Indiana Humanities and made possible through the generosity of Glick Philanthropies.  This program is sponsored by the Flora-Monroe Twp. Public Library in collaboration with the Flora Depot.

Professionally, Edward is an attorney with the Indiana Department of Insurance, where he specializes in medical malpractice litigation. In his spare time, he is also an Indianapolis historian and authors a blog dedicated to the history of the Indianapolis area, www.class900indy.com His first history book about the city, Vanished Indianapolis, was published in 2023 and explores the history of lost sites across Indianapolis.  Copies of the book are available at the Flora Library.

In this special program, Fujawa will explore the history of lost sites in Indianapolis, how they appear today and how some are still used or repurposed. Join us for an evening of history, Q&A, and reminiscence.

The evening will also include an exhibit about Flora's vanished sites.  The Depot Committee has reprinted plaques from an Indiana Bicentennial Legacy project completed in 2016.  The plaques show vintage photos of downtown building and list the businesses that were housed in those building throughout Flora's history.  Orignally, the plaques were displayed in storefronts in Flora's downtown.

In addition, a recently acquired Bingo Engine will mark its return to the community.  The engine was manufactured in Flora by the Bingo Engine Works between 1914-1916 and was used to power agricultural equipment.  There are very few known to exist.  The engine was purchased by a group of individuals as a way to save an important part of the town's history.  Other photos and artifacts relating to local buildings will be displayed as well.

Bring your local history treasures to the Flora Depot on March 18, 2026 at 6:30 p.m.  Items can be old, recent past, current--it's ALL Flora history!  Share your artifacts and stories for a fun evening of

show and tell.  We'll bring out some never-exibited artifacts (and a few that have in case you missed them) from the Flora Public Library and the Flora Depot archives.

This program is a tribute to the late

Pat Wisler Meade, who donated a portion of her local history collection

to the Depot.
